"The best from 2013 will be equal to our best from our superior years. We will have a little less volume in some varieties caught by the rain and mercilessly sorted out of the harvest, but what is in the cellar is very good to excellent." Harry

This mixed 6pk includes:
3 bottles of 2013 Ian's Reserve Chardonnay, 91 pts Wine Advocate
3 bottles of 2013 Reserve Pinot Noir, 92 pts Wine Spectator, 91 pts Wine Advocate

Chehalem’s most ageable wines are our Reserves. They are the last released and are blended to assure they live decades.

A Harvest Both Big and Good

2014 was one of those rare vintages when everyone is excited—writers and winemakers love the quality, grape growers had no handwringing to do, and yields pleased bankers, which also means customers will see reasonable prices! Wine quality is excellent, based on full ripeness, probably the cleanest fruit we’ve seen in decades, and restrained extraction in fermentation to compensate for the warmest growing season on record. Despite the warmth of over 2800 degree days, good cropload balance and harvest timing gave us reasonable alcohols, averaging just under 14%. Whites are lush and gorgeously fruited.  Pinot noir colors are appropriately rich but not deep, wines not tannic or over-extracted, and all’s right with the world.

91 POINTS, Wine Advocate
This Ian’s Reserve Chardonnay is bursting with aromas of lemon, shortbread, slate-mineral, and flan, and it draw us into a perfectly balanced wine where flavors of green apple, toffee, custard, and continuing mineral are packed tightly; expect the size on palate to bloom and for it to luxuriantly age.

$40.00  / Bottle

A big one, showing the deepness of color and fruit, with loamy black earth, black cherry and blackberry, rich full chewy tannin, coffee, black licorice, good acid and size that we expect of these precocious 12th year vines. Firm, needs time to polish youthful exuberance into a cocky but refined Pinot. 375 Cases

$50.00  / Bottle

The oldest vines on Ribbon Ridge show elegance and balance from this powerful vintage, emphasizing complex and beautiful elements such as red and black fruit aromas, mineral, black cherry, earth, baking spices, cassis, bramble, cola, leather, and tobacco. Balance and structure emphasize light, fine tannin, bright acidity, excellent balance, nice length. A great ager, but should show well out of the chute.  460 Cases

90 POINTS, Wine Advocate

An amazingly elegant showing from our version of Stoller Vineyards Pinot Noir in a rather warm vintage gives effluent blue fruits, black cherry, cardamom, and German chocolate cake.  Deep garnet in color and just beginning to open up on the palate, expect long dusty tanning, juicy berry pie, plum skin and fresh barkdust to integrate and elongate over many years to come.

$50.00  / Bottle

91 POINTS, Wine Advocate

Richer than our standard showing of Corral Creek Pinot Noir, this wine is warming, spice-driven, and showcases beautiful oak to compliment bright red fruit.  Tobacco leaf, cinnamon, cola, Italian plum and pomegranate are in the foreground, with fruitcake, dusty ripe berry and dark chocolate supporting. This wine will flourish with 6-12 months in bottle, and round out subtle black tea tannins.

$50.00  / Bottle
Zang and Blue Razzberry! This is electric, violet-to-purple Gamay Noir, with a dusty character, doug fir, beets, herbs, red vines, maraschino cherry, huckleberry and even game meat nuances; great acid dominates, with metallic and herbal tension suspending this always wild and interesting wine.
